Currently the major funding for Asian Center–SE MI(AC-SE MI) comes from a Capacity Building Grant (CBG) from the Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH). Other funding comes from pharmaceutical company grants (Gilead & BMS) for hepatitis B work and the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan for the Personal Action Toward Health project, a chronic disease self management project. The CBG grant is the only one that offers staff compensation; the other two are mainly for program expenses only.

All of the staff at Asian Center–SE MI are volunteers. Staff working on the CBG project receive a small compensation. On average, most of the staff receive about 10-30% pay for their efforts and 90-70% in in-kind service. The annual base salary for administrators is also set at the extremely low end of the community service pay scale.
